Sewage Cleanup & Restoration in North Vancouver
On the North Shore slope, dirty water is often soil from a well. A true sewage backup shows up in older houses on the lower grid, or in a Lower Lonsdale stack.
Lynn Valley, Deep Cove, Edgemont, and Capilano floods are frequently surface water that picked up soil at a well or a stair. That water is dirty. Norgate and the lower streets are where a real lateral shows at a floor drain. Lower Lonsdale is a stack in a concrete building. Calling all of it sewage is sloppy. Missing the real backup is worse.
Soaked pad comes out either way. The label follows the inlet. After a confirmed backup, the uphill wall still has to dry. Removal without a dry-down leaves a wet cavity.
Lynn Valley well water classed as soil unless the drain backed up
Earthy smell on slope water is usually soil, not a sewer. We confirm before we write the file. Porous finishes that sat in the well water still come out. A sewage protocol is reserved for a floor drain or a fixture that overflowed.
Deep Cove and Capilano wells get that same class-the-inlet step. The daylight basement can be a dirty-water dry without being a sewage gut.
Norgate floor drain on the lower grid
If the grate backed up, stay out of the room. Older laterals here get a contained removal: lower wall out where the paper sat, hard surfaces washed after the debris is gone. Edgemont houses that are actually on a lower, older lateral get that protocol. A well on the uphill wall of the same house is a second note.
Full sewage handling applies to the drain path. It is not applied to the whole storey by habit.
Lower Lonsdale stack through the bathroom and the corridor
Suites on a backed-up stack need the path contained through the corridor, not only the bathroom. A vanity of particle board that sat in sewage comes out. A wall-hung fixture that stayed clean can stay. We look before we condemn the room.
The building plumber owns the stack. We clean the suites on the path we can enter.
Edgemont retaining wall dried after the dirty water is gone
Whether the water was soil from the well or sewage from a drain, the uphill wall does not get closed wet. Batts that sat in it come out. The concrete behind them is dried on readings. A sewage backup adds the wash. A soil flood adds the dry. Both need the cavity open.
Leaving the board on because the smell faded is how the lower floor smells in summer.
